Jack Pumpkin Head of Oz

The strong wind took away his original head, so now my scarecrow has a pumpkin head. This takes me to the time when, we read about Jack - the pumpkin head a new character introduced in the "Marvellous land of Oz"
a sequel to the famous "Wizard of Oz" I vaguely remember him being created by Tip a boy enslaved by Mombi the witch to scare her but inadvertly came to life because of her magic powder of life.

Tip escapes from Mombi with Jack the pumpkin head, as they have many amazing adventures on their way to the Emerald city and the Winkie country, Tip crafts a Sawhorse for Jack to ride on, just so that his joints would not wear out. Also, Jack needed a fresh pumpkin every now and then when he loses his head or needs to replace his rotting head. It is only apt that he settle in a large pumpkin shaped house and grow pumpkins (to ensure a supply of fresh heads)  near Tinman’s castle in the Winkie country.

We went on adventures with Jack Pumpkin head and several other interesting characters. Haransh – a preschooler then and me absorbed every single detail of these imaginative stories. He could listen to stories all day with rapt attention. So, we read many more mystical stores written by Frank Baum - Sky island, Ozma of Oz, Road to Oz, Emerald City of Oz and it never fazed us as we marveled at the new interesting characters, places and adventures being churned out book after book as we read together in amazement.

Inspired by the vivid imagination of Frank Baum, we started making up our own equally interesting stories and reveling in the adventures that awaited us in the blue skies, the depths of the oceans, the expanse of the rivers and interiors of the jungles.  Soon, enough, Jaskrit joined us in these adventures and it added a new interesting mix to our endeavors. As we continue our pursuit in ups and downs and the merry go round in this interesting adventure called life.
